Relive the original experience, and go beyond it.

July 8, 2022

Spike Chunsoft’s newly announced Action RPG ‘Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness’ is scheduled to be released on September 2, 2022, for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Today it was announced that Singer Riko Azuna (responsible for the TV anime opening theme) will be in charge of the game-ending song “Lights”. A new gameplay trailer was also revealed to introduce the various game systems and how to dive into the abyss.

As the name implies, Made in Abyss is a story about exploring the descending world of a great fissure known as the Abyss. The world of the original story was recreated in full in 3D inside the game, with all the details including the locations, the monsters, and relics, and even the extreme conditions the players have to endure while going down or returning up to the surface. It is a work that has a unique flavor even among other Japanese works, and fans will now be able to experience its charm in a whole new way.

The game Made in Abyss: Binary Star offers two game modes. “HELLO ABYSS” which is a story mode that allows you to relive the events of the anime while acting as a tutorial for newcomers, and “DEEP IN ABYSS,” a new original story where you can create your own character and explore the never before seen depths of the Abyss. You will also get to meet many characters from the original story and enlist their help, and all of it is supervised by the original series author Akihito Tsukushi.

Not only will scenes have full voice acting by the cast of the anime, but singer Riko Azuna (Bloom into You, Re:Zero, Astra Lost in Space) herself will also be participating in the game. With the announcement, she left a comment saying that she is honored to be a fan of “Made in Abyss”, and that she sang with all her soul so that the fragile little lights of Riko (Main heroine) and her friends will never go out. Even after playing the game, she hopes players can listen to the song “Lights” and feel the vast scenery of Abyss and the feelings of the adventurers.

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will be available on September 2, 2022, for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch with either Japanese or English text and audio. The Standard Edition is priced at $60, and The Collector’s Edition is priced at $90. This edition includes a 24″ x 36″ commemorative movie-sized cloth poster featuring new exclusive art by Kinema Citrus, the team behind the Made in Abyss anime, and a Cave-Raiding Notebook, containing pictures and information about primaeval creatures, Relics, and Whistles you will meet in the game.

The outlets for purchase in North America and Europe are available on Spike Chunsoft Official Website, and the game is now available for preorder.

The Ending song “Lights” will come included in Riko Azuna’s single CD “Shape, scheduled to be released on August 24, 2022. “Shape” is the opening theme of the TV anime “Made in Abyss: Retsuhi no Koganego” which will be broadcast from July 2022. The anime events occur after the events of Made in Abyss Movie 3: Dawn of the Deep Soul, the fifth instalment of the series, and tells the story of the protagonist’s adventure into the Sixth Layer of the Abyss, The Capital of the Unreturned.
